BUSTO, Silvestro
December 15, 1927 - March 28, 2013
Silvestro Busto of Vancouver, British Columbia, died peacefully in his sleep at St. Paul's Hospital. He is predeceased in Italy by his parents, Vincenzo and Lucia, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Antonio and Anna Marinelli, all of Sammichele di Bari; and in Vancouver by two of his brothers and one sister-in-law, Domenico, and Vito and Rosa; and nephew Vince. Silvestro leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Caterina; his sons and daughters-in- law Vince and Gail, and Tony and Caterina; grandchildren Daniel, Eric, Andrew, Silvio and Angelica. He is also survived by his two remaining brothers and three sisters-in-law in Vancouver, Giovanni and Maria, Sabino and Vincenza, and Maria; and many nephews, nieces, and friends. Surviving relatives in Italy include brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Giuseppe and Luigina Teofilo (Venice), in Nino and Maria Cannone (Milan); Fiore and Rosaria Marghelle, and Nunzio and Maria Teofilo (Polignano a Mare); and many more nieces, nephews, and friends. In retirement Silvestro enjoyed working in his own gardens as well as lending the occasional hand in maintaining the gardens of family, friends and neighbours; telling never-ending stories of his many lifetime experiences as a youth in Italy and immigrant worker in British Columbia, and watching and guiding his grandchildren, nieces and nephews as they progressed through life. Prayers will be offered at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2025 Napier Street in Vancouver, B.C. where Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5.
