FARNELL, Lesley Anne
January 8, 1947 - May 4, 2013
After a valiant two-year struggle with breast cancer, our Lesley was taken away from us on May 4, 2013. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, Lesley spent most of her life in Canada. Her family settled in East Vancouver where she attended Begbie, Templeton and Van Tech Schools. In East Vancouver she met and married her loving husband of 48 years, Andy Farnell. They moved to Ladner where they built a home and raised three incredible daughters, Kristina (Jamie), Jennifer (Alex) and Amanda (Geoff). The light of her life was her six grandchildren Isabella, Charlie, Sophia, Tyler, Olivia and Ava. She is survived by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and sister Kathleen. Leslie worked for many years at the Cancer agency in both Vancouver and Surrey. She fondly remembered all the wonderful people she worked with. Lesley always enjoyed having friends and family around. She had everyone over for Christmas dinners and barbeques at her home. She loved to feed everybody. Aside from her family, she loved her Beta Sigma Phi sorority sisters and her birthday dinner group with whom she shared memories with for over 35 years. Lesley will always be remembered as a loving and caring mom, wife and friend. We take comfort in knowing our mom is no longer in pain but in heaven having tea and cookies with her mom and brother. A big thank you to Dr. Pansegrau and Colleen Sherriff at the Surrey Cancer Agency. Services for our mom will be held at noon on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Ladner Baptist Church with reception to follow. Lesley would want donations to the Canadian Cancer Agency in lieu of flowers.
