MacLEAN, Marion
February 1920 - June 2013
Marion MacLean (born Marion Helen Main) passed away at the Weatherby Long Term Care Facility at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, BC on June 19, 2013. She had recently shared many memories of her youth in Winnipeg, Manitoba and of the 63 years of marriage to Harold MacLean, whom she missed endlessly since his passing in 2007. Predeceased by her mother Helen (Nell) Marion Main (1961), father Byard Garfield Main (1955), brothers William Hunter Main (1960) and Byard Douglas Main (2001). Marion is survived by her children Marni (John) Warren, Byard MacLean (Christine Marin) and Shirley (Alain) Daniel; grandchildren Warren Edwards, Samantha Pollard, Adam and Tavish MacLean, Aidan and Sadler Daniel; great-grandchildren Lockland and MacLean Edwards. Her fondest memories include her school years at Daniel McIntyre, rowing at the Canoe Club in Winnipeg and meeting Harold in 1944 at a Service Dance in Ottawa. Marriage was followed by moving to Victoria, and then to Vancouver, where she raised her children, happily homemaking, expertly sewing clothes, singing with the Adelines and being involved with Ryerson United Church. When the kids moved out, Marion shared many travels around the world with Harold, as evidenced by many reels of home movies. A favourite holiday was summer in Ontario with her relatives in Ottawa, North Bay, Morewood, and Kemptville. Many thanks to Dawn Livingstone and Rhoda Cooke for their expert care services to Marion over the last six years. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
