September 12, 1951 - August 10, 2013
Everyone who knew Steve, a.k.a. Stavros, assumed he would be teaching Tai Chi and showing us "the way" for decades to come. He was dashing, fit, nimble, strong and impossibly graceful as he moved through the forms, defying his 61 years. Illness struck suddenly and relentlessly, shocking all who knew him. His wife, Claire, and their children Danielle (and partner Travis), Nathan and Max were by his side, day and night, throughout his two months in hospital. In his last moments Steve was surrounded by our love, he was at peace, and he had a gentle smile on his face. We will love and miss him always. Many thanks to the VGH Palliative Care team for their enormous support and tender care, and to the Drew family for being there in every way to help keep us afloat. We will celebrate Steve's life on Friday, August 23, at the Canadian Memorial Church at 2 p.m. at the corner of W. 15th and Burrard. Reception to follow at 3 p.m. at the Canadian Centre for Peace, 1825 W. 16th Ave (at Burrard). Please RSVP to email@example.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending donations to the Cancer Agency or the Palliative Care Unit of VGH.
