It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Berg on September 27, 2013. Margaret was born on July 7, 1920 in Edmonton, Alberta and is predeceased by her husband John and her brothers Thomas and James (Ivy) McKirdy. She is survived by her sister-in-law Madeline McKirdy and numerous nieces and nephews in Alberta, BC, Ontario and England. She was assisted and supported in her final years by her nieces Mary McKirdy and Darlene Bucholz and her nephew Gary Smith. Margaret graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Household Economics from the University of Alberta and completed her internship in Dietetics at the Montreal General Hospital. Margaret's early career saw her working in Honolulu and San Francisco hospitals in the late 1940's and early 1950's. Margaret's later career was with the B.C. Government, retiring from the Ministry of Correctional Services after a long and rewarding career as a dietician. Special thanks to all her kind and considerate neighbours who helped Margaret remain in her home, in particular, Vivien and Gary Gagnon and Pat Rooker. A Celebration of Margaret's Life will be held on Saturday, October 5 at 2:00 p.m. at 1517 West 63rd Avenue, Vancouver.
