Dear Diane and Family, Please accept my deepest, heartfelt condolences on Don's passing. We were colleagues at UBC in the late '80's, early '90. Don was my port in the storm, helping me to navigate many challenging situations in the office. He had a wonderful sense of humour and balance that always helped me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. He probably would have edited these terrible cliches - but they come from my heart. In essence, Don was one of the GOOD GUYS.

An excellent reporter, natural story-teller and great friend and colleague. I followed him and learned much from him on the city hall beat at the Calgary Herald. He will be missed by all. My sincere condolences to Don's family.

So sorry to hear of Don's passing. His impact on this world extended beyond his personal and family sphere, where his words and insight touched, informed and helped many people through his writing, though we would never meet or know him in person.
Condolences.

I had the pleasure of working with Don for many years in the Vancouver Sun business department and he was a great journalist and a terrific person. His passing is a huge loss and my sincere condolences to Diane, Garth and the entire Whiteley family.

Don, You were always there for us, kindly giving your time and your good advice. You were a gentle man and you kept us honest.
Here is a tribute from a friend of yours:
Don (Arrow) Whiteley won the hearts and gratitude of those of us who have been congregating at the Isaac Brock Society website for the past few years. He used his finely-honed journalism skills to educate his readers and in the process he boosted our spirits and gave us courage. We will greatly miss our straight shooting Arrow. We send our heartfelt condolences to Don's family, friends and colleagues.
We will continue the battle for you.

Your death has struck an Arrow right through the hearts of your many cyber friends and fellow Brockers and Sandboxers.
Thank you for all you did, Arrow. You gave many of us courage to stand up for what is right.
We loved though most of us never met you in person.

To Don's Family and Friends,
My sincere condolences.
I just commented that Mr. Whiteley was what journalism should be, not what it is. Your husband, Mrs. Whiteley, was a mighty warrior who was a voice for so many "US Persons" in Canada. He will be missed by that community as he will be missed by his family and friends.
He was also a valiant warrior of CLL.
Many are thinking of you and all his family, in your great loss.
