Dear Roger:
Thank you for a wonderful Celebration of Ted's Life. It made us all remember what a great human being he was both in his day-to-day life and in Academia. He was a great friend both in the House of Commons where he shared with us his knowledge and out of the House where Emily, he and I spent time together. Ted and Emily were a great team and will not be forgotten. Please accept my condolences and extend them to your family in Australia.
Sincerely,
Anna Terrana,
M.P. Vancouver East 1993-1997

Edward McWhinney was one of the world's great scholars and a great mentor. In spite of the fact that I never took one of his courses, he decided to mentor me. This resulted in weekly lunches during which he would regale me with stories and knowledge and pick my brain. He was one of the reasons that I passed my foreign service officer exams on the first attempt.
He was erudite, articulate, crossed cultures in his intellectual interests and made both Canada and the world a better place. He changed me and I will forever remember those luncheons and what his brilliant mind served as model for what you could do if you totally applied yourself. Requiescat in pace, Edward, condolences to his family.

Dear Roger:
Thank you for the wonderful Celebration of Life for your Uncle Ted today at the Vancouver Club. Your personal recollections & family photos added a delightful dimension to the public life we all knew of Edward McWhinney.
What a beautiful photo & obituary you wrote in the Vancouver Sun. A remarkable man, with a multitude of achievements, is gone now & this world seems lessened somehow because he is not a part of it. Edward McWhinney will never be forgotten by those whose lives he touched.
My condolences to all your family in Australia. May your own cherished memories bring all of you comfort.
Hon. Maria Minna

Fond memories and notes of conversations on issues and life. Whether in the constituency office, Liberal convention or BC Caucus meetings, Town Halls - his wise counsel was true. Taught me plenty - one of the reasons I remain involved in our democracy. Thanks for sharing him with me and all of Canada.

Ted was a wonderful colleague during our time together in Parliament. Always unruffled, always urbane, and always eloquent, he made a great contribution to having BC interests taken into account by the government. He had friends in all parties.
