Donna Crosby Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Jan. 7, 2017.
Donna Crosby May 9, 1942 - December 24, 2016 Donna May Crosby (nee Elliott) passed away on December 24th, 2016 after a short illness. She is survived by her two daughters, Christine and Sheryl (Tim), her two beloved grandchildren Taryn and Rylan and by her brother Roger and sister Lori. She was pre-deceased by her husband Ken in April 2016. Donna loved nature and was happiest when spending time in her garden. She shared her love of nature with her grandchildren and enjoyed teaching them about trees and flowers. Donna spent many years travelling with Ken in their camper, seeing much of Canada and the US. Many happy hours were spent at the Mayne Island home, sitting on the deck and enjoying good times with friends and family. Donna was a great supporter of her community, primarily in the goal to save the Riverview Lands for community use. She was taken from us rather suddenly and we will miss her immeasurably. No formal service will be held, as requested by Donna. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Thank you for being you. Loved our occasional get together. Cannot believe that both you and Ken will not be with us at our annual Christmas Cheers. Our thoughts are with your girls and family. A missed stitch in our blanket of life will be felt by all. See you both in your garden on the other side. Love your kind and gentle spirit. Fred and Lynn

To my Aunt Donna;
You have always been and always will be my Aunt Donna! One of the very few people I've known my entire life. Also one of two people (the other being my mom, your sister) who always sent a birthday card, no matter where I was living or what was going on, that card would show up...sometimes it's the little things...but it's indicative of your kindness and dedication. I'm so glad we got to spend some time together when you were down here in L.A., and don't worry I will continue to tell you my little cat stories, you always laughed! You're already missed.

I'm missing Donna so much, especially with all her Riverview collection all over my kitchen. She invited me to join RHCS, and I am so glad she did.

Donna, you were a dear friend, more family than friend. We all miss you deeply but have many great memories to cherish. Our families travelled everywhere together. I think every day of you and Ken and know you are both travelling the world again together.

Donna, was a kind soul with a beautiful soft voice and gentle laugh, married to my cousin Ken. She loved her family and garden and gave hours of work to volunteer services including the Girl Guides of Canada. Sadly missed.

To my Aunt Donna. You were such a special person, kind, compassionate woman who never forgot our birthdays (including my kids!) You could always rely on a card in the mail:) You will be missed. Love Sharon Simmons

I remember Donna as a gentle soul, always willing to listen, very kind and compassionate. I know she was a very supportive wife, who went "above and beyond" in her care of Ken when he was ill. A great mum and grandmum as well. She will be sorely missed.
