Dear Elizabeth and Family, I am so sorry to learn of Macon's death. He was a remarkable man. I am proud to have his memoir about his 90 years. He was a very nice friend-my husband and I admired him lot.Macon and I were in the same poetry critique group for quite a few years. We especially like his concrete poems. He was unusually creative. I was quite aware of his devotion to you, dear Elizabeth. With Sympathy and Love, Doris Vernon

Dear Elizabeth,
I was so sorry to hear the news about Macon. He had been part of our poetry group in the past and had added a great deal to it, as you did also with your wonderful fruit dishes. As one who was born in 1920 also, I feel Macon's loss with a special poignancy. Please know that you have my deepest sympathy and love.
