Lucille Simons Obituary

Lucille Simons, 91, was born in Kenmare, N.D. on Sept. 19, 1918, and passed away peacefully on May 17, 2010.

She married Dale Simons, a musician, in 1938 and moved to Minnesota where the trumpeter and his wife started a dance band, Dale Simons and the Blue Denim Boys. They lived in Winona where they began a family.

Lucille and her family moved to El Segundo, Calif. in 1956. After her children were mostly grown, she worked as an optician during which time she earned the award for the Optometric Association's Contact Lens Assistant of the Year. In 1986, Lucille moved to Leisure Village in Camarillo, where she attended Peace Lutheran Church and worked at Luther's Attic Thrift Shop. In 1996, she moved to Solheim Lutheran Home in Eagle Rock.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Simons and survived by four children, Diane Simons, Leslie Simons, Jeanine Hart and Laurie Donahue as well as eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at Inglewood Cemetery on Saturday, May 29 at 12 noon and a Memorial Service will be the same day at Solheim Lutheran Home in Eagle Rock at 3:30 pm. Friends of the family are welcome.
