Ronald "Ron" Edwin Ostlund, US Navy, retired, 76, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of family on January 14, 2013, in Sacramento, Calif., due to complications following heart surgery.

He was born on September 24, 1936, in Detroit, Mich. After his many Naval deployments, he settled in Camarillo, Calif., for 41 years and had a second home on the Consumnes River in Somerset, Calif., where he spent many happy times with family and friends. He joined the Navy in 1955, after graduating high school and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Ron (call sign REO) was radar intercept officer (navigator) in the rear cockpit of the F-4 fighter jet. He continued his Navy career after the war and his final tour of duty was at Naval Air Station Point Mugu, where he served as Master Chief for VX-4 (Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Four) under the F-14 Tomcat program. He retired from the Navy in 1975.

After his retirement from the Navy he worked as Director of Operations for Power-One, Inc. and later co-founded International Power DC Power Supplies in 1982. He continued to be actively involved in the business operations until his recent illness. Ron loved to drive his Corvettes. As a member of The Redline Corvette club, he enjoyed many activities with fellow club members/friends including a cross-country Corvette run from California to Bowling Green, Ky., in the summer of 2009. Ron cherished time with family above all else. He was a thoughtful and caring brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle, and throughout his life he made many close friends. His sense of humor and love of life will be cherished and remembered by all who were blessed to know him.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Janet Louise (Percy) Ostlund; his children, Vicki Stubblefield (Gary) of Spokane, Wash., Connie Varvais (Daniel) of Placerville, Calif., Ron Ostlund (Dorla) of Camarillo, Calif.; sister, Dorothy Bokor of Canton, Mich.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
