Ervin (Erv) McDonald Wilson, (June 11, 1928 ? Dec. 8, 2016) highly innovative microtonal music theorist, mentor to many composers and instrument builders, veteran of the U.S. Army, and, above all, beloved brother, uncle and friend, passed away on the morning of Dec. 8, 2016 in Camarillo, CA. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Marion Lyman Wilson and Lousia McDonald Wilson, by his brothers Lyman, Alma, and Grant Wilson, and by his sister LeRona Kocher. He is survived by five siblings (James Wilson, Julie Grace McConkie, Mary Miles, Frances Foote, and Amy Boe), his caretakers Tammy Sweet and Walter Wilson, and 61 additional nieces and nephews. He was born in Colonia Pacheco, a small village in the mountains of Chihuahua, Mexico and grew up under the influence of a loving and self-reliant pioneer family. This experience shaped his character, his love of nature, and his curiosity about all things natural, including his fascination with music and its tonal properties. Ervin spent a great deal of time in Mexico working to develop varieties of high protein corn to help combat world hunger, and improve nutrition among the indigenous people of Mexico. Ervin in his later years, appreciated greatly the kindness of friends and family members who visited him, played music for him, and looked out for his well-being.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 14 at 9 AM at the LDS Chapel at 1201 Paseo Camarillo, Camarillo, CA. Burial will follow the funeral. Lunch will be held back at the LDS Chapel following the Burial.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday at Conejo Mountain Funeral Home at 8 PM 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo, CA in the Chapel of the Hills room.
