Francisco G. Ortiz, age 88, of Oxnard, passed away peacefully on Nov. 17, 2010. Francisco was one of 11 children born on May 2, 1922 to Pascasio and Juana Garcia Ortiz in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico.
He moved to Oxnard in 1948 and worked for Chevere Produce for many years. Francisco Ortiz lived a long life, surviving all of his brothers and sisters. He lived a simple and peaceful life and made many friends. He was very independent in many ways and enjoyed listening to music. He attended the Wilson Senior Center for many years. Later in his life he enjoyed attending "Entre Amigos" Adult Day Health Care Center where he made more friends.
Francisco is preceded in death by his wife of many years, Ruth. He is survived by his son, Rudy; his grandchildren, Matthew, Christy, and Jonathan; his niece, Gladys Dominguez; his nephew, Victor Ortiz; and many other nieces and nephews.
Francisco will be greatly missed by his family and will live in God's presence and in the hearts of his loved ones and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 22 at the Garcia Mortuary Chapel in Oxnard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 22 at Santa Clara Church in Oxnard. Interment to follow at Santa Clara Cemetery.
