Leon E. Lopez, age 91, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away on Dec. 19, 2010 with his family at his side.
He is now free of pain. Leon was born on June 22, 1919 in Ostipaquillo, Jalisco, Mexico. He was a resident of Ventura County for over 50 years. Leon loved many things. He enjoyed his gardening, his beloved dog "Primo," his cats, pigeons, and birds.
He was a dedicated farm laborer, and was considered a very hard worker who took good care of his family. He loved his roses, and having his friends over. But his greatest love was his family, whom will miss him dearly, but he is now in Heaven with his wife, Socorro, and son, Chepe.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Socorro Lopez, who passed away on Nov. 21, 2010; his first born baby daughter, Maria Josefina; and his son, Juan Antonio Lopez (Chepe). Leon is survived by his sons and daughters-in law, Gonzalo and wife Olivia Lopez, Hector and wife Rosa Lopez, Mario and wife Danette Lopez, Leon and wife Silvia Lopez; daughters and sons-in-law, Leticia Vaivao, Tonia and husband Jose Arias, and Maria and husband Shane Potts; 13 grandchildren, Danny Ray, Christopher, Jerry, Erik, Brittany, Michael, Michelle, and Jessica Lopez, Tara and Stephanie Vaivao, Joseph, Matthew, and Vanessa Arias; five great-grandchildren; sister, Petra Lopez; and three brothers, Lauro Lopez, Manuel Lopez and Juan Lopez.
He also leaves behind a lot of wonderful friends in Cabrillo Village, where he lived since 1965. He will be deeply missed by all his loved ones and friends who knew and loved him.
Special thanks to the Vitas Hospice Nurses and Staff for being with us during this most difficult time.
