Mildred Solomon passed away after a brief illness.
Mildred was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on July 17, 1922. She moved to Oxnard in 1956 with her husband, Irving, and two young daughters, Sheryl and Jeanie, when Irving transferred to Point Mugu Missile Range as an electronic engineer.
Mildred was a housewife and active in many organizations; Missile Mrs., Temple Beth Torah, ORT, National Council of Jewish Women, Bachelor and Bachelorette Square Dancing Club, as well as bridge and pan card clubs. Mildred discovered her artistic talent when she moved into a retirement home and took art and craft classes. She excelled in making jewelry. Students and residents bought her beautifully designed necklaces and bracelets.
She was preceded in death by her husband who was her high school sweetheart. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanie Cohen; son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Scott; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her best friend of 50 plus years, Bee Stein.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura. Burial has taken place at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura, with Rabbi Lisa Hochberg-Miller of Temple Beth Torah officiating.

Dr. and Sheryl Scott,
In the short amount of time we were patients of yours was a pleasure. It was a real privilege when you asked me to take care of your mom. Even though I called her Mrs. Soloman( she insisted I call her Mildred) she will be a treasure missed. I looked forward to our outings to the Easter Seals pool or where ever she wanted to go for the day. She shared stories of her time growing up in Brooklyn and when I told her one time I would love to do was go to Coney Island and eat a real Nathan's hotdog. She laughed so hard and told me I was crazy but she admired the fact of something I wanted to do. She will be missed and I am grateful that I got to know such a nice and caring person.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time

Mildred was a tough cookie with a caring heart, I had the pleasure of sitting and listening to her at the retirement facility. Condolences to the family.
