Richard Thomas McIntyre, 76, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, January 21, 2013. Richard lived in Newbury Park for over 40 years.
Richard was born August 23, 1936, in Durango, Colo., to the late Thomas Owen McIntyre and Anna Mary Rowe.
Richard is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Ann McIntyre; and four children, Chari Laguna and husband, Howard, of Westlake Village, Calif.; Harold McIntyre and wife, Christina, of Double Oak, Texas; Jeanine Vigil and husband, Edward, of Newbury Park, Calif; and Julie Austin and husband, Jeff, of Mooresville, N.C. Richard was the proud grandfather of 21 grandchildren, Shane, Damon, Summer, Alexa, Austin, Nicolette, Christian, Brigitte, Mikey, Kelsey, Luke, Dyllan, Shihonna, Zachary, AJ, Alex, Tommy, Macey, Jeffery, Jake, and Jaret. Richard is also survived by his two sisters, Marjorie Connors and Lilly Goldsmith of Colorado.
He received his Undergraduate degree in Secondary Education from Adams State College, and later earned two Master degrees in Chemistry and in Education. He served his country for 31 years in the United States Navy retiring as a Captain. He was a computer engineer for Grumman Aerospace as well as a part-time professor at Moorpark College. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Richard was a dedicated volunteer for his church and the Civic Arts Plaza in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
Richard loved all sports. He was a fixture at area high school and college sporting events supporting his grandchildren. Richard loved life and lived it to the fullest. Richard loved the Lord and he loved his family, as they him. He will be missed.
Services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 3 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Newbury Park, Calif. He will be interred at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park.
