Shirley Boyles Obituary

Shirley Broyles went to be with Jesus on February 20, 2013. She was born July 3, 1940,, in a farm house near Santa Rosa Elementary School in Camarillo.

She grew up on Ventura Farms in Santa Rosa Valley, attended Santa Rosa Elementary School and Moorpark High School.

In 1959, Shirley married disabled Korean war veteran Eura Broyles and spent the rest of her life mostly in Oxnard. Shirley greatly enjoyed music and was a church organist for decades. Even in her 12th year of Alzheimer's disease, when she could do little else, she could hum or even sing the words to many of the old gospel hymns.

She loved to laugh and to visit Yosemite National Park. She was a great mom who loved and set a great example for her children.

Shirley is survived by her three children, Steve Broyles, Loren Broyles and Colette Lovo; sister, Viola Hudson; her brothers, Charles, Kenneth and Phil Crow. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, Ernest M. and Reba F. Crow; by brothers, Roger Norman and Eugene M. Crow.

Viewing will be Sunday, February 24, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Rose Family Funeral Home in Simi Valley, 4644 Cochran Street. Funeral service will be at Bethany Chapel, 1076 Stroube Street, Oxnard, on Monday, February 25, at 10 a.m. followed by grave side service at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura, then by a reception at Bethany Chapel.

Shirley's family will be forever greateful to Yvonne Moran and her family for their excellent help with Shirley's care. Also the Hospice nurses and care givers that came to assist were excellent.

So sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. She was my best friend at Santa Rosa Elementary School. I still remember how she could hear a song and then play it on the piano.

Shirley was a great sister in law. I loved her as a sister. Our families spent much time together when our children were young. She was a lover of music. We will miss you but you have it made now, we will have to wait a little longer. Bill Hudson

Shirley was always a second mom to me and my sister. We have so many wonderful memories of vacations, holidays, and many family gatherings. She will be missed terribly, but it is a comfort to know she is at peace now and with other loved ones that have gone on before. Thank you Shirley for being a wonderful example of love and compassion and for being my second Mom.....I love you!

Aunt Shirley will be greatly missed by everyone. I remember going to visit California with mom (Marilyn) and she took me to Knott's Berry farm where I got to see dolphins for the first time. She was a wonderful woman and although I did not get to see her very much I will always have a special place in my heart for her. I love you Aunt Shirley.
Love,

Aunt Shirley was one of the truly kindest people I ever knew, exemplifying thoughtfulness, consideration of others, empathy, generosity, quiet strength, beauty, grace, and love. I always enjoyed her sense of humor and have so many happy memories of her. We were so fortunate to have her in the family; I will be forever thankful for her existence.

My heart is with all whose lives she touched and who will miss her. Those lives are many.

To you, Aunt Shirley, I say thank you for your love and for the times you were there. Your love and those times made a difference; I am grateful.

With love,
Candy
