Steve Hodge was called home to be with the Lord on January 9, 2013. Steve passed away peacefully at his home in Moorpark, CA after a long illness due to complications of diabetes.
Steve was born in Burbank, CA to the late Wallace and Elva Hodge of Los Angeles, CA. He is survived by his daughter Kimberly (David) Christensen of Kent, WA., and children Eric and Kevin; daughter Teri Hodge of Las Vegas, NV and her children Tai (Shoshana) Williams of Yuma, AZ and great-grandson Job, Erin Giegoldt of Eugene, OR and Charlene of Las Vegas, NV.He is also survived by his brother John (Annette) Hodge of Redding, CA and children John Jr. David and Michael, his sister Laurie Hoogendoorn of Eugene, OR and children Nicholas, Wayne and Corey.
Also surviving is his wife Sylvia Hodge of Moorpark, CA. Extended family Gene (Rong) Giegoldt of Simi Valley, CA and sons Daniel, Brian and step-daughter Jinyao, Russ Giegoldt of Moorpark, CA, Bruce (Liz) Giegoldt of Simi Valley, CA and children Katie and Leann, Mary (Andrew) Curtis of Camarillo, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Steve was involved with the Boy Scouts for many years and loved the camping trips to the Sequoias and the Sierras and the hiking of the John Muir Trail. Steve was discharged from the Army in 1963 after serving at Fort Ord, CA. Steve retired as a machinist from Continental Can (Crown Cork and Seal) Van Nuys, CA/Olympia, WA. His hobbies included coin and stamp collecting, gardening and traveling. He especially looked forward to his yearly fishing trips to Minnesota. He also enjoyed family gatherings and teaching the grandchildren how to play cards.
A special thank you to Dr. Roger Zierenberg of Moorpark, CA for your prayers and friendship for the past several years. Also the Steve Hodge family would like to extend their gratitude to the Buena Vista Hospice team for their support, compassion and dedication. He will deeply be missed by all and always remembered in our hearts.
