Albert Feraud

1923 - 2010

After a long illness our Uncle Albert peacefully joined family, friends and Our Lord on Oct. 26, 2010. He was a fifth generation Venturan and a resident of St. Joseph's Retirement Home in Ojai.

Albert and his sister, Alberta, were the first twins born at Big Sisters Hospital in Ventura on June 25, 1923. He graduated from Ventura High School. Inducted into the military in 1942, he proudly served in the United States Army during WWII as part of the European African Theater. Many times we heard stories of marching across Italy as a combat infantry soldier. Albert was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the Purple Heart for wounds received in Bordignano, Italy. He was honorably discharged in 1945. After returning to Ventura, Albert worked as a food production manager for 20 years at the Las Palmas Chili Company, a family owned business.

Albert was a kind and big hearted man. For those of us who knew him, well, we will fondly recall laughing at his stories he enjoyed telling. Oh what a life he led... what experiences he had to share. Albert loved to fish, hunt and golf, all of which he did throughout the United States. He was well known for his nine month-long yearly vacations, visiting old friends along the way and always making new ones as well. He was a member of the Ventura Elks Lodge, VFW and a dedicated and proud member of AA.

Albert was preceded in death by his father, Frank Feraud; mother, Rose Feraud; twin sister, Alberta Woodstock-Cliver; nephew, Jim Woodstock; and niece, Bonnie Reeder.

He is survived by his niece, Pattie Reeder-Cooke (husband Bob); great-nieces, Audra Reeder Lahey (husband Kevin), Stephanie Reeder Beattie (husband Darrin), and Kimberly Reeder Gardner (husband Stuart); great-nephews, James Woodstock (wife Susie), Keith Reeder (wife Michele), Matthew Reeder (wife Jodi), Jacob Woodstock (wife Tracy), Joshua Woodstock and Jimmie F. Woodstock; extended family members, Don Reeder, Kathe Woodstock and Cyd Peevyhouse.

The family would like to thank the Brothers, nurses and staff at St. John's for the dedicated and loving care they provided. They were a special part of his life and he considered them a second family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations made to St. Joseph's Retirement Home, 2464 E. Ojai Ave., Ojai, CA 93023.

Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 5 at the San Buenaventura Mission, 211 E. Main St., Ventura. Albert has been entrusted to the family owned Joseph Reardon Funeral Home at 757 E. Main St., Ventura; 643-8623.
