Anne Smith of Camarillo, our beloved mother, grandma, and great-grandma, joined her husband Jack in heaven on Oct. 14, 2010. She died in peace at home with her daughter by her side.
She was born on July 15, 1926 in Frankfurt, Germany. She excelled in track and field holding records in 75 meter dash and high jump for 2 years, and was awarded a place on the German National Team bound for the Olympics, but canceled due to WWII. Anne had a God given voice, and perused a career in Opera graduating with a degree from the Conservatory of Music in Weimar, Germany. She survived the war being bombed out 3 times, loosing everything but her voice.
From 1948-1954 she toured with the U.S.O., singing in American Clubs all over Germany where she met and married the love of her life "Jack" in 1955. She became a "proud Citizen" (as her license plate reads) in 1958. Anne and Jack traveled the world extensively through Radioplane and Northrop, and called Camarillo home for 39 years. She loved to have fun!
Anne's many talents and exuberance for life was amazing. She owned a property management co. and a gas station; taught Jazzercise and Line Dancing; bowled in leagues most of her life and handcrafted beautifully. She adored Dude Ranches, riding, motorcoaching and being with close friends.
She lived for her daughter Ursula Sorensen of San Diego, her granddaughter Tammie Anne Mirkay of Virginia and great-grandchildren Erika and Deric.
To celebrate Anne's life, the family invites her friends to a memorial Service on Dec. 8, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Pierce Bros. Valley Oaks Memorial Park, 5600 Lindero Canyon Rd., Westlake Village, CA. The service will be followed by a gathering of family and friends at Anne's house, 3382 E. Stiles Ave. in Camarillo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Anne's name to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250; or VITAS Hospice Care, Camarillo Division.

Anne and Jack were good friends of my parents, Roy and LeeAnn Reading. Dad and Jack worked together at Northrop, and they all bowled together and even took a couple of road trips in their motor homes. Mom and I send our condolences to Ursula and family. The world has lost a wonderful lady!
