On Oct. 9, 2010, he peacefully passed on to the Lord in his sleep of natural causes.
Born on Sept. 21, 1922 in El Paso, Texas. His parents were father, Abelardo, and mother, Manuela Ordonez. He was married to Gloria Escobar for 46 years when the Lord took her under his arms. He was blessed with five children who addressed him as Pop. Also, he enjoyed his nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Arthur's daughter, Christine, married to Jim Pizano with two grandchildren: their son, Jimmy Jr., married to Lauren with four great-grandchildren, Tracy, Sarah, April and Sophia, and their daughter, Angie, married to Adrian Cardoso with two great-grandchildren, Mia and Alex. Arthur's son, Patrick Ordonez, married to Cheryl and one grandchild, Veronica. Arthur's daughter, Anna Smolin, and two grandchildren, Amanda and Andrea. Arthur's son, Anthony Ordonez, married to Ileana and three grandchildren, Leanna, Emily and Eva. Arthur's daughter, Gloria, married to Tom Humphrey, and one grandchild, Miranda. His family included sister, Ofelia Castillo; brother, Anthony Ordonez; sister, Adaline Maynez; brother, Albert Ordonez; sister, Caroline Tafoya; and surviving brother, Patrick Ordonez, and sister, Helen Samora.
He worked for Construction Labors Union, Local 0585, retiring Jan. 1, 1976, continuing his own business of seal coating driveways and then parking lots until his stroke in 1996. Arthur was a devout Catholic who worshipped at St. Anthony's Church for many years. For many of these years, he volunteered his time as an usher. He volunteered his time delivering toys and goodies to the needy at Christmas. Also, he was a member of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul. He truly enjoyed giving to others and had many friends.
Other hobbies included fishing, camping, and even spent time raising birds. His favorite time was family gatherings. He was never short of a smile or greetings for family, friends or strangers. He was never short of words or interesting stories. He touched so many lives that his memory will go on forever. We will truly miss him and remember the lessons he taught us. God Bless Arthur, with love from all his family and friends.
A very special thanks to Tina Winfield and her sister Donna Esters who devoted themselves to our Pop 24/7, making him happy and comfortable with love.
Viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21 at St. Anthony's Church, 2511 South "C'" Street, Oxnard. Funeral services at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22 at St. Anthony's Church, followed by the burial ceremony at Santa Clara Cemetery.

Pat,
When we lose someone we love, it seems that time stands still. What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why he left this earth so soon, or why he left before you were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, you begin to remember not just that he died, but that he lived. And that his life gave you memories too beautiful to forget. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy.
