Arthur Skinner Obituary

Arthur R. Skinner passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010. He was born in Niskayana, N.Y., on July 1, 1922. He proudly served during World War II, 80th Infantry under Patton's third army. He was a decorated war veteran.

He married his sweetheart, Ruth Atchinson, on June 6, 1942. In 1958 he moved his family to Southern California. He started a fastener company in the SFV with his sons in 1978. In 1987 he retired with his wife, Ruth, to Henderson, Nev. In 2008 Ruthie passed away and Russ moved to Simi Valley to enjoy his final two years with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be very missed by his entire extended family. Gatherings will not be the same without his sense of humor and ability to win at Checkers.

He is survived by Arthur R. Skinner, Jr., Sharon Jones and Dennis Skinner, along with Vincent Atchinson, his brother-in-law, and nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the employees and friends at Vintage Retirement Senior Home for their dedicated and loving care of "Big Russ."

A viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Reardon Funeral Home in Simi Valley. There will be private family graveside services.

Russ will be dearly missed by all of the employees and residents at Vintage Simi Hills. He had a wonderful sense of humor that kept us all laughing each and every day. All the ladies looked forward to that greeting of "Hi Sweetie". Watching him play a game of checkers and dance at our events was priceless. Russ took a little piece of our hearts when he left and will certainly never be forgotten.
