Ascension Lazos Obituary

Many things can be said about Mr. Ascension R. Lazos. Known to friends and acquaintances as a friendly, energetic, empathic and decisive man, his compassionate nature would always shine through, revealing his charm, warmth and conscientious demeanor. He was warmhearted, gentle and organized in all the things he sought to accomplish. Ascension was a mentor, a natural "teacher" capable of seeing things clearly, leading others and bringing out the best in all of those around him. He generally had a focus on harmony and peace. Ascension was born on May 25, 1922 at Upland, Calif.

His parents were Leonidez (Lazos) and Antonio Robledo. Ascension was raised in Chihuahua, Mexico and later moved back to Ventura County. One of Ascension's favorite things to do was having a big BBQ at Steckle Park and inviting whose he loved to spend quality family time, even if it meant spoiling his grandchildren at times. What brought a smile to Ascension and joy to his heart was playing the harmonica for people.

He is reunited with his devoted wife, Tita Hernandez de Lazos, three sisters, and his parents. He leaves behind his daughters, Aucencia (Abraham) Friend, Maria (Gregorio) Ortega, and Yolanda (Simon) Hernandez; sons, Leobardo (Delia) Lazos, Petronilo Lazos and Esteban Lazos; 17 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

The Lazos family would like to give a special Thank You to a lot of little angels that gave unconditional support, care and love to our beloved Ascension during the time he spend at Vista Cove AKA Twin Pines. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 6 at Funeraria del angel Stetler Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with Father Charles Lueras officiating, 427 N. Oak St., Santa Paula, CA 93060, with burial to follow at Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery, 2370 North H St., Oxnard, CA 93030. Arrangements are under the direction of Funeraria del angel Stetler Mortuary, 128 S. 8th St., Santa Paula, CA 93060; 525-5595.
