It is with great sadness and love in our hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Our beloved one died and went to be with the Lord on Dec. 6, 2010 after a tough battle with colon cancer for two years.
Augie was born in Delano and resided in Oxnard all of his life. He worked at E.J. Harrison and Sons for 19 years and with the City of Oxnard for four years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Rachel Lucero; his children, Isabel, Tina, Valerie, lil Rachel (Rene), Augie Jr. (Noemi), Angel (Reyna) and Deserie (Andy), all of Oxnard; his grandchildren: Christina, Jynessa, Johnny, Joseph, Jasmine, Ilene, David, Michael, Joey, Elijah, Trystan, Augie III, Jocelyn, Andrew, Angel Jr., Alex, Phillip, Andy and Francisco; his two great-grandchildren, Juan Jr. and Aaliyah; his brothers: Octivano, Jose, Julian, Valentin, John, Raymond, David, Phillip, Vincent, Mark, Richard, Robert; sisters: Frances, Corina, Mary and Renee. He is preceded in death by his brother, Alex; father, Valentin; mother, Augustina; and nephew, Alex Lucero.
Augie loved and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was everyone's uncle and grampa. He loved helping out neighbors, enjoyed barbecues, doing yard work and taking rides to the park with his grandchildren on the three-wheeler bikes. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank all of his family and friends for the love and support given in this hard time, also a special thank you to Dr. Lark and Dr. Benjamin and the team at V.C. Oncology and also Buena Vista Hospice.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13 with the Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Santa Clara Mortuary in Oxnard. Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Oxnard. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery.

Uncle Augie was one of greatest men I knew,with the biggest heart of all. We will truely miss him! It didnt matter if you had been in the family for 5 min or 5 years, Uncle Augie and Aunt Rachel always welcomed everyone in their home and in their hearts, you could always feel the love the family had for one another and for everyone. I am thankful for having the honor of knowing such a wonderful man. Words alone cannot express the sadness that we feel in our hearts on the passing of our dear friend Augie. He fought a tough battle and not once did I hear him complain. His family was number one in his life and never did he hesitate to help others in need, we always felt like family when we were in the company of your home. I will especially cherish the memories of our dinners at Celito Lindo with the Mariachi playing your favorite song "Sufriendo Penas"...those were memorable times for all of us. May God provide you all strength to get through this difficult time in your lives and may you find comfort to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers...We will someday join Augie and he will still have that smile on his face that he always had when he would see us. I was sadden by the news that an old friend of mine had passed away before his time. I grew up going to school with Augie and our friendship continued passed our school years. Augie was a special friend who really knew how to enjoy life with family and friends. Most of all he really believed in family and friends always staying together. I will always have fond memories of Augie as he was truly a good friend. My thoughs and prayers are with his family members and friends during this most difficult time. May God have mercy on Augie by openning up the gates to heaven as he is deserving of no less.
