Beulah L'Heureux Obituary

On Sunday, October 31, 2010, Beulah Ora L'Heureux joined Our Lord. Born, at home, on August 8, 1918, in Hawthorne, Calif.; she remained a resident of Hawthorne until marrying Arthur N. L'Heureux, a Naval Officer, in 1941.

They built their home in La Mesa, Calif., but were stationed many places before retiring from the Navy in 1956, and returning to San Diego County with their five children: Julia, Lawrence, Leonard, Louis, and Yvonne.

After graduation from Leuzinger High School, Beulah worked for the for The Telephone Company, in Los Angeles, Richmond, Washington D.C., and Boston. Then attended Grossmont College and San Diego State College, and worked as a nurse for Grossmont Hospital until retiring and moving to Oxnard, Calif., in 1980. She continued to provide patient care through Home Health Care and also worked with Catholic Charities in Ventura County and the Coachella Valley.

Baptized into the Catholic Church in 1958, she generously gave of herself to her Church and community, organizing and volunteering for numerous organizations and groups. She was a group leader for Recovery, Inc, and brought Meals on Wheels to East County, San Diego, plus served as President. She also sat on the Board of the Licensed Vocational Nurses' League. In 1975, Beulah became an Oblate of Holy Trinity Benedictine Monastery in St. David, Ariz. In 1980, Beulah joined Santa Clara Parish, where she was blessed with many dear friends and given the opportunity to do Our Lord's work. We, her family, will always be grateful for the love showered upon her by so many wonderful members of the congregation.

While still physically able, she coordinated RCIA, organized Lenten Soup Supper and Sunday Coffee and Donuts; and was active in the Catholic Charities' "Gleaning " program. She also was a member of the Eucharist Ministry, Altar Society, Prayer Group, and "Spirit of Love".
