It is with profound sadness that Isensee Floorcovering announces the passing of our beloved friend and business partner, Darrel R. Davidge.
Darrel Rex Davidge was born Oct. 23, 1947 in Huntington Park, Calif. He passed on Oct. 29, 2010. Darrel acquired Isensee Floorcovering with his partners Steve Lee and Kathy Jasper after the passing of Marvin E. Isensee in 2006. Prior to that, Darrel was Vice-President of Isensee Floorcovering for over 30 years. Darrel's unmatched area of expertise in the commercial floorcovering industry led to many long lasting friendships throughout Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.
Darrel was an avid hunter and always looked forward to his annual hunting trips with his buddies. He also enjoyed skiing in Mammoth every winter. Darrel's greatest joy in life came from spending time with his granddaughter Mariam. Darrel and Mariam would often enjoy running errands together, sharing gelato ice cream, and just enjoying everyday life. The Davidge Family along with the Isensee Floorcovering Family misses Darrel greatly.
Isensee Floorcovering invites the many wonderful friends and associates of Darrel Davidge to a Celebration of Life ceremony at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home, 757 East Main St., Ventura, CA 93001; 643-8623.

To My Wonderful Husband, a Poem for you...
* * * * * * Once a Day * * * * * *
Once a day and sometimes more,
You knock upon my day-dream door,
And I say warmly, “Come right in,
I’m glad you’re here with me again.
We talk of all the things we’ve done
Our togetherness was so much fun
Then, some task that I must do…
Forces me away from you…
Reluctantly I say good-bye,
Smiling with a little sigh
For though my day dreams bring you near
I wish that you were really here,
But what reality can’t change,
My dreams & wishes can arrange.
And through my wishing you’ll be brought,
To me each day, a guest in thought
Thank you, Darrel for Sharing 28 Magical Years of Unconditional Love…

Over three years ago, I bought a house that was near perfect, except for the carpet. So I called my friend Darrel and made an appointment to see him at Isensee. When I arrived, Darrel handed me three almost identical samples and said, "You'll choose one of these, but I'll give you your money's worth and show you everything in the store." For an hour, we examined every brand of carpet. I learned about durability, price and countless other carpet-related subjects. At the end, as predicted, I asked for the three samples to take home, knowing I would pick one of them. As I left the store, I wondered - how did he know? He was so good at what he did. And he was my friend. I shall miss good times with him and Lyndall.

Lyndall, Thank you so much for the great photo's of Darrell and Mariam, That is so special, I know now the first question I'm going to ask God when I get to Heaven ????Why Lord do some special people leave us so soon???? Of course they are the ones who received the Gift of life eternal. We are the ones who are left with an empty spot in our lives (Precious Memories)

The other day our GrandDaughter, Mariam, was at our house. She brought me a toy that had broken... My heart broke as I listened to her explain to me how it was OK, because GrandPa would fix it and she was going to help him.

Wow, So sorry to hear about the passing of Darrel, My daughter who now lives in Las Vegas, Called me when she saw the Obit from Ventura. We left Ventura County in 1999 Years Before that I had worked for Marvin at Peacock Carpets and For Marvin and AJ in the 1980's at Isensee, I first met Darrel when he work in Wagon Wheel,Soon Darrel would join Marvin and that was the beginning of a great relationship. But the memories will always be in my thoughts, My prayers are with the friends left behind. We never know when our number will be called. God Bless

I will truly miss my telephone chats with "Doctor" Darrel. He was the epitome of what a professional should be. Although we've been through some battles with difficult customers, he was always fair no matter what the outcome. My favorite Darrel-ism: Don't shoot the messenger! (No worries, those bullets were always mis-fired.) Thank you for the memories and laughs -

My heart sank when I saw his picture in the paper. Darrel is a long time friend to me and my family. He has been my flooring contractor for my construction projects as well as my rental property. I loved seeing and talking to him. He always cheered me up and made me laugh. He will be missed by many.

DR,
I miss walking around the store with you trying to locate your coffee mug because you can't remember where you last placed it. I miss our talks about religion. I miss hearing you talk about Mariam. I miss listening to your stories, and watching you get upset because I interrupted you with needless questions you don't have answers to. I miss seeing you rub your beard back and forth. I miss your chuckle. I miss seeing you get excited when Shania Twain's song "Man, I Feel Like A Woman" would play on my radio. I miss looking back at your office and seeing you there. It is not the same coming to work. Something is missing. I hope you are at peace. Love and Miss you always.....

I worked with Darrel on many design projects over the years. He was always knowledgeable, professional, funny and had a heart of gold. My favorite memory? The time he helped a nurse/ single mom I knew carpet her flooded Ventura home with remnants for free! Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. We will all miss him.

To my Wonderful Husband, Best Friend, Lover & Soul Mate Darrel...
"In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

What a shock to read of his passing. Darrel and I held a speical bond for many years in our younger years..but he loved his pride and joy more ...his EL CAMINO. He worship that car, always waxing and caring for it every chance he got.. He was a great guy and I always thought of him everytime I passed wagon wheel (where he worked many years) and his business Isensee Floorcovering on Main Street. He will always be remember for the great speical person he was and as in life always held a special place in my heart no matter how many years had passed.
Huzzz to you Darrel, you will live on forever in everyone heart.
