Davey Peck was important to me, and I don't know if he ever even knew it. I met him only once in Santa Paula through a mutual friend. Shorty after that he moved out of state. There were countless times I thought of Davey; even did an Internet search once and thought I found him. I thought of him often; it was easy, going down the 126 and always seeing the Peck Rd. offramp. Reading through the guestbook has been good. I see Davey had many friends and was and is loved. That is a great comfort. Through these posts I hope I can share in the joy others had knowing Davey and honor him by saying he was never far from my thoughts.

I'm so sad to hear about Davey passing away.
We had been friends for over 20 years. I have so many great memories! I hadn't spoken with Davey since I was his date for Steven and Bibiche's wedding, although he was often in my thoughts.
I'll miss you Davey.

Dave - I just saw you! I'm so sad you're gone. I've been thinking about you all day. You and I had a ton of great times - too many to mention. However, one funny story I enjoy telling about you is you teaching me how to "Soloflex" our apartment. We'd known each other years before we became roomates and one of the first things you said when I told you I was having a girl over is "Okay, Petey, we're going to get this place 'Soloflexed' and she'll think you're the biggest stud around (lol). I remeber you placing your dumbells in a fairly conspicuous spot to appear as if they'd been recently used - a small sweat towel to go with them - you went into my underwear drawer and pulled out a pair of floral pattern boxers that you casually tossed into a corner of my room. It took you 3 tosses to get the "casualy tossed" look you were going for. Additionally, you decided you wanted my date to view me as intellectual too so you pulled a Carl Sagan book off the shelf along with To Kill A Mockingbird and laid both of them on the sofa, one of them open laying face down. A couple other strategically placed items and the pad was "SoloFlexed"!! LOL!!!! She never came back! You said I blew it. You called ahead when you were having a new friend over to tell me to get crackin' on the Soloflex treatment. Funny. You're a good man and a good friend. Safe travels, Dave

Davey my friend. Everyone always looked up to you (literally). I remember the first time I met you, your dad brought you over to our house on a rainy day after a soccer game (I think we had just played against each other) we were about 11 years old. We had a lot of great times in junior high (you threw some great parties and Jo Dobsons) and high school especailly hanging out our junior year. Davey was the epitome of fashion, quotes, and always on the pulse of new music and trends. I had not seen you in nearly 18 years but you were one those people that we will never forget. Just like your father you are gone far too soon.

Karen, Danny & Steve, I’m shocked to hear about your bother/ son passing.
I have a lot great memories when my Mom Vi Vega baby sat for the Peck’s we lived across the street Davey and Victor my little brother they always spent time together at our house or theirs house. But when it came to dinner time my Mom would make some Mexican food for us and Peck’s too. Davey grew up eating beans and rice rolled up in a tortilla. Davey thought he was Mexican. Every Christmas Davey couldn’t wait for the Tamales that my Mom made she made sure that Davey got his share also Danny and Steve.
I still go to Santa Paula to see my Dad at house on Cornell Dr. my Mom passed last year in Aug.
Now Davey you can say hi to Vi Vega in heaven because she always treated you as her own son.

To one of my closest friends and biggest influences in life, I miss you dearly. Although I have told you many times how much of an influence you have been in my life and how proud I was to be one of your very close friends, I need to tell you one more time. I will miss you always and cannot express how much your friends and family love you and miss your presence. I will always remember hanging out with you for entire weekends at the cabin, going out to dinner and dancing on the tables, when you saved me from being stranded in Tijuana, and all of our inside jokes (that I will always keep alive, haha). I love you and miss you bud.

I have so many wonderful memories of Davey as far back as I can remember. My heart is truly broken and my love and prayers are there with you Karen, Danny and Steve. Davey and I were always a duo by default during family visits; but honestly, I never had a single complaint. I have only warm and loving memories of Davey. I am sure he is with my Uncle David and my daddy up there, but he will be missed so deeply here. Rest in peace Davey. Love you all so much!

Dear David--I hadn't seen you for almost a year, when I ran into you the night of November 2, 2010, as you were visiting a friend at Tacoma General Hospital. I was in the room next door with my mom and sisters, at my dad's bedside as he was dying. You gave me a big hug--it was very comforting to see you, friend! My dad died at 11pm that night, at age 80. You died, so unexpectedly, a week later at age 43. I'm glad I had the chance to see you that night, to say goodbye. I imagine you and my straight, conservative, Texas-born father in heaven, having a good time together. Blessings on your spirit's journey, and for your family and loved ones who are grieving.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
