Dennis Carroll Obituary

(DC) Born into Life... September 12, 1947 Born into Eternal Life... October 12, 2010.

On Tuesday, October 12, 2010 DC lost his battle with a very rare stomach cancer. He was born in Denver, Colo. and moved with his mother to Ojai, Calif. at the age of two and later moved to Oxnard. He worked as an Electronic Tech at Point Mugu Naval Base & San Nicholas Island and retired after 39 years of service.

DC was energetic, full of life and caring of everyone. Joking was his lifestyle and he had several nick names for his family, friends and dogs. He never left home without his kids (dogs) Tyrone, Toby, Nicole and Nikki. He traveled often with work and loved going to Kauai. He loved having friends over for BBQ's and informing them he was the best "BBQer".

Competing was also a strong trait of DC's; playing dominos, craps and black jack were his favorite past times. He was a loyal fan of the LA Rams, USC Trojans, Dodgers and Lakers. Boating, fishing, bowling, and golfing were among his many pleasures in life. He enjoyed many camping trips , outings and his home away from home on the Colorado River.

He is survived by the love of his life, Beth Ann; daughter, Shannon; son, Earl; mother, Linnea; his loving family and friends in Jacksonville, Fla. and his brothers from other mothers in Oxnard. His favorite granny Elvera was with him in heart and sprit throughout his life and illness.

A special thanks goes out to nurse Ratchit (Diana), Dr. Barone and Cresent Pharmacy. A "Celebration of Life" (Hawaiian theme) will be held for family and friends from 1-8 p.m. at the Oceanview Pavilion (Port Hueneme beach) on Saturday, October 23 (575 E. Surfside Dr., Port Hueneme). In appreciation of DC's love for animals, donations can be made to any animal shelter of your choice.

Dennis aka "Uncle D",

We never know how much time God will give us to spend on this Earth. So why not make the most of it. You certainly did "Uncle D". I can only pray that I will have as much of an influence on so many people's lives as you did.
Although we did not spend much time together it was always fun. I don't remember where, when, why or how "Uncle D" started, but you were the only uncle I had. Thank You. Whatever the case you were a great man, husband, father, son, FISHERMAN (can't forget that one), and one of the chosen few who could get away with calling me Danny. And now that list of chosen few has just gotten smaller.
Thank you Dennis for coming into our hearts and never leaving.

We love and miss you "Uncle D".

Cuz: What a truly wonderful person you were. Such a fun-loving guy and a joy and pleasure to be around. You always made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. How we will miss those special times when we were able to get together, but we know for sure that one day we will meet again. On that day there will be no more sorrow, sickness or pain. Looking forward to that day when we will see you and all the family and friends again in that great big celebration of God's Kingdom.
Beth Ann: We know how hard it is to loose someone you loved so much. Your best friend, your soulmate, and the love of your life. With time, prayers, tears, keeping busy and the support from family and friends, you'll get through this. It's going to be rough, but you can do it and we will always be here for you.

We love you so much!

I don't think words could ever begin to really say how Ken and I felt about Dennis. You will always carry him in your heart as will we.
Remember the good times which are your memories to treasure, they will get you through the rough times.
So when you want to cry "do it" because those tears are your feelings and love for Dennis which you are entitled to. Those times will help you grow and take steps forward.
Know we are here for you and Earl. We love you both .

October 27, 2010
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Beth & Family:
In your deepest sorrow, you were able to give Dennis the celebration of his life. We know he was watching as people were telling thier stories about DC, we laughed, we cried and we celebrated the life of a loving man.

May he rest in peace and watch over us.

Beth,
Talking to you today was like talking to Dennis. In this world there are in-laws and out-laws. Guess which group Dennis & I were in? I vaguely remember meeting him around 1959 at Bard Jr Hi Before we went went over to the "brand new" EO Green Jr Hi. Hueneme HS was barely tolerable although the Pine Mt. snow trips were cool so was cruising A St. The next 25 years were a daze..But Dennis had a killer smile & always had a way with "wimmin" But his biggest score for sure was Beth (or Curly) God Bless you Beth, for taking such loving care of Dennis, we should all be so lucky. Rest in Peace My Brother....

Beth, I am at a loss of words. Dennis and I spent many wonderful hours/days/weeks working and doing those things he loved, like playing dominoes and Black Jack. DC always wanted to ‘fleece' someone at the card game. I will always remember Dennis as we were then. Not too many folks can say they sat on top of the 200' tower at Kokee Park HI and talk College Football. The days we spent together in the Antenna Shop and at Lake San Antonio will always be etched in my memory.

May God bless you and your family.
