Remembering Frank Bergado Ballesteros, 75, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, has gone Home to be with God on Oct. 25, 2010.
He was born on Jan. 29, 1935 in the Philippines and was a Ventura County resident for 36 years. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer First Class for 20 years. After retirement, he owned small businesses both in the U.S. and abroad for his unselfish intention to help out other people. Frank was generous with his time and mechanic skills. He loved helping people, friends and strangers alike, in any way without expecting anything in return. He was always dynamic and optimistic. He loved to travel and was always enthusiastic to learn new things. He enjoyed dancing, especially Tango, and sharing good laughs with his family and friends. At the age of 65, he accomplished two marathons -L.A. Marathon and Phoenix Marathon- and became an inspiration to those around him to never give up and never stop trying. He's a wonderful grandfather to his grandchildren who loved calling him "Pa." Ben will always remember him for the fishing trips to the beach.
Frank is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lydia Salazar Ballesteros; daughter, Ilyn B. Romero; sons, Rancisco and Reed B. Ballesteros; son-in-law, Jesus R. Romero; daughter-in-law, Myra M. Ballesteros; grandchildren, Ben, Olivia and Juny Romero; and his sisters, nephews, nieces, in-laws and friends. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Erwin S. Ballesteros.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, with Vigil/Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Santa Clara Mortuary located at 2370 North "H" Street, Oxnard. Memorial Services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Santa Clara Cemetery, 2370 North "H" Street, Oxnard.
