To the family of Dr. Franz, please accept our deepest condolences. We have such fond memories. Dr. Gregory Franz was a pleasure to work with and he provided wit and wisdom to his work. Kathleen Giles, R.N., and her late husband, orthopaedic surgeon James C. Giles, M.D., often turned to Dr. Franz for family care. As he neared retirement, Dr. Franz once quipped, "I'm trying my best to retire, but some of my longtime patients just won't let me."

My condolences to the Franz family. My very first job out of high school, It was my pleasure to have worked for your father. You couldn't find a kinder, nicer more patient man than this! He lived his religion, loved his family and treated his patients with loving care. They don't make them like this anymore! He will be sorely missed, but forever loved and remembered fondly by all. I'm happy for him that he's reunited with his cherished "bride". Mary Houck

"Aunti Clare and Uncle Edmund" were just part of our lives as were the McCabe's! Yes, Greg was an outstanding person and exceptional doctor.Know that always your parents and each of you, although we don't know each other directly, will have a special place in my heart and prayers!

It is always sad when we lose an old friend. I knew Greg in high school, then I worked for his parents at Franz & Franz Rexall Drug Store for two years, but I rarely saw him because he was away at college.
My thoughts and prayers will be with his family during this time of grief.

To Tom, Diane and Mary,
Your father was a gentle giant. A man of grace and dignity. He's together again with Pat.
Every day of my childhood your house on "G" Street was part of my walk or bike ride home from school. "There's the Franz house, the Maria house, the Hiji and Tanakas, etc." What great memories of our neighborhood our parents provided for us.
Smiling Memories,
John Hill

I knew Dr. Franz for many years. He was my Doctor for many of those years. Also with working in a Physician's office, I got to speak with him often before his retirement.
A sweet, kind, gently man that I will always remember fondly.
Blessings to all of you

It took my breath away when I heard of your Fathers passing.I worked with him at the Old Saint John's down in the cold basement but he had a way of making me laugh when I was working alone at night typing his dictation,I would hear this munching then a sudden stop"Oh sorry I forgot I eating my burrito! let's continue " or I would drive in to work and he would wave while jogging with his dog's.He will be missed with that big warm smile of his .

I absolutely loved working with Dr. Franz. He was one of my all-time favorite doctors. I was "aunt" to one of his dogs (my sister Nancy was her "mother"). Nancy and I worked with him starting in 1970, and there will be no one to replace him. Tom, Diane and Mary, you had one of the nicest men in the world for a dad. I know you will miss him terribly, but know that he was very, VERY much loved by all who work and have worked at St. John's with him. He will leave a big hole in a lot of people's hearts. God bless all of you.
