It is with great sadness and love in our hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend, Mike Montanez, on Sept. 30, 2010. Born on July 28, 1930 in Michoacan, Mexico to Rafael and Ester Montanez.
Mike's death was preceded by his son, Richard, and is survived by his wife, Lydia; his daughters, Linda, Mary, Theresa, Alice; his sons, Mike, Albert, Victor; and many grandchildren.
Longtime resident of Oxnard, Mike dedicated 45 years to Southern Pacific Railroad. Mike departed after a courageous battle with cancer, and at the time of his passing he was surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation is planned from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6, with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. at Camino del Sol Funeral Home, 200 North C Street, Oxnard. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at Santa Clara Catholic Church, Oxnard, with burial to follow at Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery, Oxnard.
