Nancy went home to be with our Lord on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010.
Nancy was born on Sept. 6, 1967 in Port Hueneme to Henry and Trinidad Velasquez of Ventura. Nancy possessed such an incredible strength, perseverance, courage and such a will to live regardless of the challenges she faced. With her courage she led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. She had a larger than life attitude, her beautiful smile could light up an entire room. Although Nancy's life would seem short to some, those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds quantity of time in which you live it.
Nancy graduated from Buena High School in 1985 and went to work for the Ventura County Assessors Office. She had two beautiful children with her marriage to Alfredo Romero.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Tara Romero, and her parents, Henry and Trinidad Velasquez all of Saticoy, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her son, Alfred "A.J." Romero, sisters, Lisa and Olivia Velasquez.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m to 12 noon Friday, Nov. 19, and services to proceed thereafter at Perez Family Funeral Home located at 1347 Del Norte Road, Camarillo. Burial will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery located at 2370 North H St. Oxnard.

Nancy worked in the Assessor's Office with me. She had such a sweet personality - very likable. And a great sense of humor. I greatly admired her courage as time went on. She had a lot of inner strength that I think must have come from the love and support of her family. Jean Edison

Even though Nancy and I were not real close at Buena she was a girl who left a lasting impression. I remember how her energy and happiness showed through her smile....And that 100 Watt smile was what drew people to her. I envied her charisma and her zest for life.
It is always hardest for the ones left behind but we must remember that the one we have lost has gone to a much better place.
Know that they are never gone because they will always be in our hearts and memories.
When I think of her I will always remember that smile....Rest in Peace beautiful lady!

I knew Nancy from school and although I didn' put two and two together until now, as a mother with a broken heart I to can feel the pain. just to see her beautiful smile in this picture makes me think of how from one day to the next our lives can change so drastically she is united with her beloved son now. to her daughter be strong and keep your faith in god has a plan for us all. Tear roll down my face to think of the joy of that reunion of AJ opening the gates of heaven for his mom Their Journey's Just Begun Don't think of them as gone away their journey's just begun, life holds so many facets this life is only one. Just think of them as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years. Think how they must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of them as living in the hearts of those they touched... for nothing loved is ever lost-- For true Love never dies--NEVER "These words gave me comfort when I lost my son a year ago"
