Ned Romine, born to Edward and Tillie Romine on August 18, 1919 in Rolla, MO, died Monday, November 15, 2010 at home.
Ned graduated from Rolla (MO) High School, attended Hendrix College (AR) and Drury University (MO) and completed his graduate studies in theology at the University of Chicago and Texas Christian University. He was a Disciples of Christ minister in California for more than 30 years.
Ned married Vera Henderson in 1950 in Azusa, California. They had two children, Richard and Joanne. They raised their family and served in churches in Brea and Glendora, California; Nocona, Texas; Ventura, Fresno and Van Nuys, California. Ned lovingly cared for Vera until her death in 1988.
After his retirement, Ned married Charlotte Lincoln in Camarillo, California, and they enjoyed retirement until Charlottes death in 2007. Ned adored and followed the progress of his eight grandchildren, Richelle, Stephanie and Nick Romine; Kate and Rusty Roberts; Eddie Huddleston and Doug and Kerrie Johnson.
He enjoyed music, golf, travel and the Lakers. Ned played the violin and he loved to sing. He and Charlotte were members of the Moorpark Chorale and traveled throughout Europe performing in the summer of 1990. He attended several of his Rolla High School reunions up to and including his 65th. He never lost touch with his many classmates, relatives, friends and parishioners. After moving to Wenatchee, Ned was an integral and loving part of his daughters family, a member of the United Methodist Church, an enthusiastic participant in a monthly lunch group of retired ministers and he engaged in numerous activities at Columbia Heights. His philosophy and theology were based upon inclusion, tolerance and empathy.
Ned was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Romine; Vera Romine and Charlotte Romine. He is survived by his son, Richard (Theressa) of Camarillo, CA; his daughter, Joanne (Rich) Roberts of Wenatchee, WA; step-daughter Cheryl (John) Huddleston of Camarillo, CA; step-son Chuck (Ann) Johnson of Saratoga, CA; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ, 38 Teloma Drive, Ventura, CA.
