Robert Wayne "Bob" Petty, 80, of Salina, Kan., formerly of Simi Valley, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2010. He was retired from Rockwell International as Jet Propulsion Mechanic in Simi Valley for 22 years, and was also a real estate agent in California for many years.
Robert Wayne Petty was born in Paragould, Ark., on July 30, 1930, the son of the late William Petty and Ona Mae (Hoskins) Benthall. He was the husband of Sheila Rose (Smith) Petty. They were married on March 21, 1959 in St. Louis, Mo. He was a Mason and a Scottish Rite member in California.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sheila of the home; a daughter, Melissa Petty-Ochoa of Salina; three sons: Jim Cunningham of Colorado, Kenneth Petty of Salina, and Alan Petty of Salina; sisters, Marilyn Copling of Cuba, Mo., Mona Hawkins of Mexico, Mo.; a brother: W. E. "Bill" Petty of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren, Christopher, Colton, Carson, Kenneth and Wayne; and a great-grandson, Tristian. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Copling and Melba Riley. A
t the families request there will not be any visitation. A memorial service will be held at the Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Loren Houltberg officiating. Private inurnment will be at the Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina.
The family request donations to be made to St. Judes Hospital.

Dean and I are sending our love and sympathy for your loss. He was quite a guy and made it possible for us to be in the home that we now have. Definitely a "one of a kind" guy!
