Ronnie Hagar, of Ojai, California, died suddenly on August 13, 2012 as the result of a tragic motorcycle accident.
Ron was born on August 18, 1952, in Aldrich, Missouri, but spent most of his life in the Ojai Valley, which he loved, and where he formed many lasting friendships throughout the years.
Ron was a big man with a big heart and will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. He owned and operated Ron's Landscape Service for over 37 years and took care of many citrus ranches in the east end of the Ojai Valley. His heart will always be where home was, a home he'd lived in for most of his childhood and all of his adult years. He was a true rancher at heart.
Ron is survived by his wife JoAnn, daughter Kelly, brothers Lewis Hagar (Betty) of Bakersfield, Lonnie Hagar (Bernadette) of Paradise and sister Virginia Gilbert (Gene); mother-in-law, Dorothy Todd, sister-in-law, Judy Todd Acosta, brother-in-law, Jack Todd, all from Ojai. Ron also had a second "almost" daughter in his life - Ellie Hansen of Ventura. There are many nieces and nephews who he would want named as his survivors as well. On the Hagar side: Fletcher Waggoner (Cassandra) of Santa Cruz, Loretta Hashim (Scott), Doby Hagar (Joann), Cheryl McKenzie, all of Bakersfield, and Amy, Dale, Curtis and Danny Hagar. On the Todd side: Ron Acosta of Ojai, Jennifer Ammerman of Oxnard, Ryan Todd of Chicago, IL, Justin Todd (Debbie) of Aspen, CO., and Jerry Don Todd (Yvette) of Tehachapi. There are many great nieces and nephews, too many to list, that he also loved very much. Ron also leaves behind his faithful dog and companion, Hank. Preceding Ron in death were his parents George and Okla Hagar; sister Maureen and husband Fletch Waggoner; father-in-law C.B. Todd, nephew Les Acosta and brother-in-law Jerry Todd.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, August 25, 2012, from 1:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Soule Park on Boardman Road in Ojai. Please bring a potluck dish to share, as well as all of your memories of Ron.
