After a long, full and loving life Ruth Mae Olsen, Fell, Strong Reynolds passed away at a Fresno Hospital on Oct. 28, 2010.
Born March 11, 1917 in Port Washington, Long Island N.Y., Ruth was the youngest of five children born to Eve and Thomas Olsen. Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert N. Fell; son, Herbert Jr.; and second husband, John August Strong Jr.
Ruth was a pioneer and paved the way for Thousand Oaks to become what it is today. She built the first automotive center and Taco Bell on the front part of three acres on Thousand Oaks Boulevard, she designed and built the house where she raised her three children and housed the Big John Strong Circus on the rear part of the land which is located next door to the Civic Arts Center.
Ruth loved life and children. She raised her children with morals and principals and often told them "Give me results, not excuses."
An avid reader, she loved poetry and art. She was a member of the Republican Women's Club and a volunteer at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley. Ruth was always a high energy person who loved being active outdoors; she walked or rode her bike almost daily. In the last years of her life she slowed down a bit when she fell and broke her hip at the age of 82.
She suffered a devastating stroke at the age of 84 requiring 24 hour care and was diagnosed with lung cancer at the age of 91.
She was courageous, strong and sweet through her long battle. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Special thanks to her caregiver Karen Young whose superb efforts and dedication significantly aided towards Ruth's comfort and overall well being.
Ruth leaves behind her husband of 17 years, Robert Reynolds of Fillmore; her daughters, Sandra Strong of Thousand Oaks, Linda Strong from Ojai; and son, John Augustus Jones Strong and wife Candy Strong from LaFaria, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8 at Evergreen Cemetery, Los Angeles. The family requests that Memorial Contributions in memory of Ruth be made to The American Cancer Society.

A Mother's Love Never will leave you, Mother's have the gift from God to love, and teach, and be strong for all that they come in contact with, especially our own weather they have our blood or just the breath of life, because of their love...every day most hours you hear, see, smell something that will be with you always. . .That's why you embrace her love, throughout the air that you breath.
. . .YOU NOW HAVE A GUARDIAN ANGEL, Enjoy each memory and embrace each time you think of her, she is closer to help you with your pain, because Love does Hurt, but it's a great big hurt. Your mother still loves you, she is with you all the time and everywhere...Really embrace those moments...
Wishing you and your family well in this time of pain...Kevin

Your mom was an amazing woman who played a big, big part in our livesright from the very beginning. Getting us off on the right foot, teaching us the value of a hard days work. She even attended our wedding, that'show much she cared about other people. We will miss her dearly and I'm sure you will too. It's been way too many years since we were all together on the road, but we think of all those Wonderful memories constantly. Hold all your memories close to your heart because then healing can start.. All our love, Tom & Robin

"RUTH"
(A Classic Woman)
You spoke truth to power,
small in stature..yet..
loomed tall as a tower
never condescending,
unrelentingly stalwart
A true believer of the eternal possibilities in life
A solid champion of "every man" in a world where results outweigh excuses.
Your keen eye, ever infallible.
As distant as a moon to a star or..as close as the space between applause
and performance..
A wonderful; treasure that I had such brief pleasure to know and be welcomed by,
to touch and be touched by...as so many of us did by this
wonderful "old kid"
God Bless You & Welcome You...David Frederick Pugh - October 30,2010

She was an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind personality with a very unique outlook on life. I remember her standing in our barn upstate NY, dramatically reciting a lovely and poignant poem she had written, and just bringing me to tears. She had a sharp wit, a warm personality- and lots of great advice to share. Anyone who ever met her will remember her forever. John, you are a lucky man to have had such a great mom for so long. It's never long enough, though. Just know that yourfriends are thinking of you and your family at this difficult time.

My Mother, my Friend, My Confidant passed away on October the 28th 2010,
I loved her deeply; now she's simply gone. All my life I'd known that I was loved,
living in the circle of her arms, growing up in the warmth of her loving heart
I can't believe her love is not somewhere, so Strong it was, so much a part of me.
I need to say goodbye although she's always with me, so long as I still love you mom, you live on!!!
Your ever-loving daughter, Linda Suzanne Strong
