Steven Francis Moore passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2015.
Born on June 11, 1944, in Neptune, New Jersey, Steve was the only child of Eileen and U.S. Army Lt. Colonel Francis Moore. The family lived on military bases overseas, returning to Washington, D.C. when Steve's dad assumed a civilian role at the Pentagon. Steve attended New York University and received a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in creative writing. While teaching English and working on a doctorate at the University of Arizona, Steve realized that his real passion was to have a career in music.
Steve began playing guitar at the age of twelve and seriously pursued his hobby during high school and college. He studied classical guitar, played for Broadway musicals, and performed a wide range of music in multiple venues. Steve's style and talent led him to the Los Angeles music scene, where his lyrical and melodic playing kept him in demand as an accomplished band leader, accompanist, and soloist. Steve also became a music producer, building his own studio and specializing in recording for television, radio, and original CDs. Working with talented and respected musicians, Steve was known for his collaborative artistry and high-quality music production. He was committed to creating inspired musical experiences, especially through jazz.
Whether coaching youth soccer, promoting a worthy cause, or engaging in lively political debates, Steve was well-informed, passionate, and animated. His quick wit and clever puns often brought family and friends to tears-from laughter. Steve was a dedicated father, a loving husband, and a true friend whose caring and loyalty came from the heart. Steve is preceded in death by son, Michael. He is survived by wife, Cheryl and son, Patrick; family members Bob Ford, Linda and Bill Ford, Leanne, Russell, Lindsey, Randall, Alex, and Emily Ford; and many, many friends.
A celebration of Steve's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Samuelson Chapel, California Lutheran University, 60 West Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Steve's memory to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County or to the "In the Groove" music education fund through the Conejo Schools Foundation.

Cheryl and Patrick,
My sisters and were so shocked to find out about our cousin Steve's passing in 2015. I am so sorry for your loss. I am Eileen and Frank's niece in Oregon and was at your wedding all those years ago. I was searching online for contact information because I have my Aunt Eileen's china and wondered if you or Patrick would like it.
