Thomas Glenn (Buck) Conner passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010 after a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 27, 1913 in Imperial, Calif. His family moved to Moorpark in 1923. He graduated from Moorpark High School in 1932. Then in 1937 he met and married Bonnie Hollis from Simi Valley. Buck worked for Douglas Air Craft in Los Angeles during World War II then he and Bonnie came back to Moorpark where he bought a ranch next door to his parents in the Fairview area where he raised apricots, lemons and turkeys for 18 years.
In 1964 he and Bonnie moved into town. He got his contractors license and went to work for the County of Ventura as a building inspector, then later on for the Parks and Recreation District until he retired. Buck loved to golf. He was very active in the Moorpark Lions Club. He also volunteered his carpentry skills at the One More Time senior thrift store on High Street in Moorpark.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Bonnie of 68 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy Patton, and his son, Tom Conner; grandchildren, Mark Patton (Marci), Steve Patton (Lisa), Lisa Patton Sanchez (Steve), Tracy Liesemeyer (Mike), Trisha Conner Whiting (Gary); great-grandchildren: Travez, Tommy, Samantha Liesemeyer, Jaime, Tristen Barnett, Stephanie, Rebecca, Megan Sanchez, Patrick (Andrea), Jack, Tyler, Sam Patton, and our little precious Sophia Patton, his one-year-old great-great-granddaughter.
We would like to Thank Dr. Curtis Kodama who always took such good care of him and our mother, TLC Hospice in Moorpark, and the wonderful nurses and staff at Simi Valley Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Reardon Simi Valley Funeral Home. Donations in his memory can be made to Simi Valley-Moorpark Lions Club, 10842 Ternez Dr., Moorpark, CA 93021.
