Carlene was born in Fullerton, California on May 12, 1949 to Carl and Marie Rhodes. She was the second of five children and grew up in the Mojave desert that held a special place in her heart. Mom was a 1967 graduate of Buena High School. Mom attended beauty school while working part time as a hostess at the Vagabond Coffee Shop where she continued to work for the majority of forty seven years. Her customers will miss her quick whit and sense of humor.

Mom loved working in her garden amongst her humming birds, where her green thumb grew everything from tomatoes to orchids. Mamma also loved to make quilts and afghans for her family and friends. The love of her life were her grand babies. One of her greatest pleasures was to go dancing with her husband, Jim.

Mom is survived by her loving husband James Schleben, of Oxnard. Daughters Kimberly Allen, of Ventura, Michelle Allen and her husband Gregory of Wilbraham, Massachusetts. Grandsons Spc.
