Robert Ashby, 19, of Ventura, passed away on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011.
Robert was born in Ventura on July 7, 1992. He attended Santa Paula schools from primary through high school, graduating from Santa Paula High in just two years. While there he was a member of the wrestling team and participated with the theater team as a lighting and sound technician. He was also an accomplished photographer. At the age of 10 Robert took a computer programming class at Ventura College and began an enduring interest in computer science, which over his teen years evolved from computer repair through sophisticated levels of programming and systems security. Robert was active in the Community Presbyterian Church and prided himself on taking care of the lighting and sound systems for church services. He loved customizing his 1980 El Camino, riding his dirt bike and reading five-inch thick technical manuals. And most of all he loved doing everything "Roberts way."
Robert is survived by his father, John C. Ashby of Ventura; mother, Karen Wilda and her husband Jerry of Great Falls, Mont.; brother, David Alen Ashby of Great Falls, Mont.; aunts, Barbara Ashby of Ventura, Jane Ashby of Austin, Texas; grandmother, Wilma Day of Great Falls, Mont.; cousins, Jim Motley of Ventura, Gary Ashby of Austin, Texas, Michael Ashby of Austin, Texas.
