Forest C. Westbrook Forest was born to parents of Charlie and Bonnie Westbrook on the family farm in Grape Creek, Green County Texas on July 7, 1934. In the spring of 1941 the family moved to the Delano - Pixley area. He attended Pixley Elementary School and graduated from Delano High School class of 1953. He was an outstanding football player at Delano High School. His senior year being selected for the All League and All Valley football team as an end player. In 1951 he won the College Of The Sequoias punt-kick contest. In 2009 Forest was inducted into the Delano High School Football Hall Of Fame. He also won many medals in track during his high school years. He started farming in 1956 east of Pixley and continued to farm for 30 years. Then in 1986 he became the owner - operator of the Westbrook Trucking until 2008. Due to many health issues he retired. Forest was a member the Pixley Lions Club and Tulare Elks #1424. Forest loved to rope and fish. He made a trip to Alaska in 2008 to salmon and halibut fish. In March of 2014 son Denis surprised his parents with a trip to Amsterdam. Forest was preceded in death by his parents and youngest brother Donald. Forest is survived by his wife Betty of 59 years. Daughter Trudy James of Tulare and her husband Warren; Son Denis Westbrook of Humble, Texas; granddaughter Jennifer James of Visalia, Brother Raymond Westbrook and wife Barbara of Tulare, CA and Sister Mollie Jensen of Stockton, CA. As well as many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be Thursday, July 24 from 3-7 PM at Myers Funeral Home 248 North "E" St. Porterville, CA Graveside services will be held Friday, July 25 at 10:00 am at the Vandalia Cemetery Porterville, CA In lieu of flowers the family request a memorial donation to MD Anderson Cancer Center P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486 or gifts.mdanderson.org
