Alice Lee Wieman A 55 year resident of Visalia, Alice Lee Wieman was born on September 3, 1914 and passed away on December 9, 2012 in Visalia, California at the age of 98. Alice is survived by her nephew, Monte Fenske and lifelong friends, Bonnie and Tak Takvorian. Alice was born in Phoenix, Arizona and moved to McFarland, California as a very young child. When she was in the 6th grade her family moved to Do Palos. Following the passing of her father, she moved to Bakersfield where she graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1932. Alice worked for J.J. Newberry's for 11 years and made many lifelong friends. She is a member in good standing with the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 426. Alice was a member of the Historical Society and loved reading, traveling and visiting with her many friends. She also enjoyed gardening and following retirement, she spent many hours redoing the family yard, one shovel at a time. She also loved clothes, beautiful shoes and jewelry, bright colors, birds and butterflies. As an animal lover, cats were her favorite. Alice married Jerry Wieman on September 24, 1944 in San Jose, California, celebrating 52 years of marriage. They moved to Visalia in 1947. He preceded in her death. Alice loved Visalia and the many friends she acquired while here. She considered many of Jerry's students the children they never had and followed their progress throughout their lives. Alice was a disciplined and articulate person. She understood the importance of keeping great records, good health, exercise and a committed belief in God. All those who have known and loved Alice will miss her generosity and her kind and loving ways. A special thanks to Delta Nursing and Rehab for giving Alice quality care for the last four years. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 11 - 1 pm with funeral services beginning at 1 pm at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, CA. Burial will be private.
