Bob Williams

Bob J. Williams Local Business Owner January 30, 1929 to February 16, 2013 Bob Jewel Williams was born in Sayre, Oklahoma to Nellie & Jewel Williams. Bob was the first-born followed by his brother O.J. Williams (Ann) & his sister Wanda J. Williams. Bob's family moved to California in the 40's. Bob attended school in Richmond. He later met his true love & the light of his life E. Lucille Hedgecoth and popped the question on Feb. 14, 1945 & they married on July 21, 1945. Bob joined the U.S. Army Air Force in May of 1946, working on the beginning of the Alaska pipelines. In December 1946 Bob was brought back to California & worked on Mare Island in the bay area. Bob & Lucille moved to Visalia in 1946 where he bought a Union Oil Service Station on East Main St. at the young age of 18. Bob later purchased a second service station on County Center. In 1964 Bob opened a station at the corner of Mooney & Whitendale & Bob's Union 76 was started. Bob also took on a U-Haul dealership out of the back of the station that later grew to a success that required the need to open the Visalia Move Center of Tulare County in 1976. In 1990 Bob opened the Move Center of Tulare. Bob also enjoyed his "hobbies" such as Jewel Enterprise and Angus Cattle Co. Bob raised and sold Angus cattle as well as tried his hand at a small heard of dairy cattle. Bob enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, Horseback riding, packing into the backcountry, water skiing, gardening and his time around his ranch. Bob was an active member of the Walnut Grove Assembly of God Church for 35 years where he has served as a Deacon & Board member. Bob also was a member & served as president of the West Visalia Kiwanis Club. Bob truly loved the family that has survived him. His wife of 67 years Lucille, son Kenneth & Lillie Williams, Daughter Karen Snow-Brown & Fred, daughter Janice Irvin-Cash & Kenny. Grandchildren Robyn & Chris Williams, Melissa & Dewey Patrick, Dathon & Colette Snow, Kendall & Martha Williams, Johnnie & Tiffany Irvin & Neil Cash. Great grandchildren Austin, Ashlee, Brody & Jace Williams, Dewey Jr. & Lacey Patrick, McKenna & Gage Snow, Matthew &Caylie Williams & Colby Irvin as well as numerous Nieces & Nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, sister, and son (in law) Roy L. Snow Jr. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 23rd, 2013 at Walnut Grove Assembly of God Church, 32576 Road 160, Ivanhoe at 11 a.m. & a private family burial will be held at Visalia Cemetery.
