Ethel Barnes

Ethel May Barnes Beautician Ethel Barnes born 5/4/22 passed away on 12/12/12 at 8:35 AM at the age of 90. She is survived by her son Robert and Daughter-in-law Susan, grand children Tami, Tony, Lisa, Michael and Jason and eleven great grand children. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Cliff after 50 plus years of marriage, her oldest son Doug, and her oldest grand son Robby. Ethel worked her early years as a cosmetologist in Laguna Beach, but later when she and her husband Cliff, moved to the bay area, she gave up cosmetology and became a sales clerk at Capwells Department Store for many years. She and Cliff moved back to Visalia where they both enjoyed their retired life together for about 15 years until Cliff passed away in 1998. Soon after losing Cliff, Ethel moved to the Kimble Court Retirement Complex where she became extremely close friends with several of the residents. They would play cards, bunko and bingo on a regularly scheduled basis. Ethel cared deeply for her close friends who always kept a caring, watchful eye over her. She always enjoyed visitors and her trips to the Palace Casino. At 90 years old Ethel was insistent on living alone in her apartment until she became ill and found it necessary to take up residency at the West Gate Gardens facility about 5 months ago, where she passed away peacefully in her sleep. A celebration of Ethel's life will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 12:00 noon at the Kimball Court Senior Complex, 303 W. Kimball Avenue, Visalia, CA 93277. Private burial.
