Glick Ben Callahan Glick Ben Callahan, 90, of Visalia, CA. small of stature but a giant of a man in many ways, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday July 23, 2013. Glick was born to the late Ben and Dorothy Callahan on September 13, 1922 in Palos Verdes, Arizona. He grew up in the area of Meyer, AZ. He graduated from the first class of East Bakersfield High, class of 1939. He enlisted in the Signal Corps in 1943 and spent three years of his life in the South Pacific, mostly in the Philippines and New Guinea, proudly serving his country as a Staff Sergeant and Lineman in World War II. On his return to stateside, he soon married the best friend of his sister Wana, the love of his life, Edna (Ghan) Callahan on June 27, 1947. He started his family life in Fresno, CA. where three of the four children they were blessed with were born. He accepted a transfer to Visalia in 1960 where he continued his career in banking with Security Bank and a fourth child was soon born. He spent 37 years working for Security and Security Pacific Bank including a transfer to San Luis Obispo, CA. in 1975 where he managed the branch office for five years before moving back to Visalia eventually retiring in 1985. He had been reborn in Christ a few years before and now found time for the true passion of his life by serving the Lord. Glick, who acquired a few nicknames throughout his life, Collie and Banker Brown to name a couple, was the spiritual leader of his family and eventually along with Jeff Pierce and John Rainbow established the "Abounding Grace Church". He became an ordained minister and prepared many a sermon with thoughtful devotion to scripture and a desire to share the gospel. He and wife Edna held Wednesday night Bible study classes in their home for 15 years. For recreation and another type of fellowship, Glick played golf in various parts of the world but mostly at his home course of the Visalia Country Club where he developed close friendships with many different people in the Visalia Community. Eventually, due to sudden health issues, he played his last round of golf at the age of 87 years young. Glick is preceded in death by his father, mother, and youngest son Jeffrey G. Callahan. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Edna, his beloved sister Wana Weyrick and spouse Cliff of Visalia, CA., his devoted sons, Steve P. Callahan and spouse Jerri of Visalia and David O. Callahan and spouse Carol of Visalia, CA; daughter, Linda G. Callahan of Occidental, CA. and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday July 25th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel at 1120 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia, CA. A memorial will be held on Saturday July 27 at 11:00 a.m. At St. Paul's School at 6101 W. Goshen Ave. Visalia,Ca. Private Burial. Arrangements by Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia.
