Jacob Colton Epperson III Jacob Colton Epperson III, 68 of Exeter, died peacefully Friday March 8, 2013. He is survived by his daughter Trisha Phillips, sons Eric Epperson of Visalia and Brent Perry of Tulare. Grandson Cameron Stephenson and granddaughters Haley, Presley and Johni Phillips. Brother Gerald Epperson and wife Joanne of Crocket, Sisters Shirley Shahan Bridges husband Kenneth of Tulare, and Kathleen Trimble and Husband Stanley of Visalia. Nephews Shaun and Samara Trimble, Steven and Kim Shahan, Robert and Lynee Shahan. Niece Janet and Clarence Correia and Jacqueline Trimble. Along with many other great nieces and great nephews. Born to Jacob and Beatrice Epperson in 1944 and raised in Visalia. Graduated from Mt Whitney High School in 1962. Shortly after graduation he and some of his friends immediately enlisted in the Navy serving during the Viet Nam Era. Returning home from the service he married Susie Glick in 1969 (later divorced) and was employed by the Southern California Edison Company for which he worked for over 25 years. One of his first assignments was walking the flumes in Three Rivers. He later worked in Big Creek, Visalia, Rosemead and San Onanfre Nuclear Plant near San Diego. Returning to work for Edison in Tulare as Senior Material Manager, where he later retired. After retiring he soon moved to South Lake Tahoe enjoying his life and his dog "Tahoe". Later, returning to the area he bought a home in Exeter where his parents had been raised. A descendant of the Jordan Family pioneers of Tulare County, and member of the Cherokee Nation. Jacob immediately became involved in community activities. He was past President of the Exeter Senior Center, member of the Exeter Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, Eagles Lodge, Tulare and Kings County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council, and Able Industries. He loved life to the fullest, his family, his dogs, and the town of Exeter. Jake was the ultimate Jokester, inheriting this talent from his father. An early morning phone call, you knew Jake was on the other side. Never shy to be the one to want to wake you up in the morning regardless of the time. Every day was "April Fools" day to Jake He followed NASCAR and Drag Racing, never missing a race on TV. In the mid 1960 and early 70's he followed his sister, Shirley "Drag on Lady" on the Drag Racing circuit and was her biggest fan. In 1994, Jacob accepted the Lord his savior at Calvary Chapel in Visalia. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Smith Family Chapel, Exeter.
