Jennie C. Alvarez

Jennie C. Alvarez Jennie Carrillo Alvarez was born on November 15, 1920 in Santa Paula, California. She departed this life on January 14, 2013 to be joined again with her beloved husband of 69 years, Santiago Alvarez Sr., who passed away July 26, 2010. Jennie was an amazing cook, and her family and friends were especially fond of her hot chile salsa, enchiladas and tamales. Her hobbies included crocheting, gardening, sewing and doing word search puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Jennie was a firm and dedicated believer in her Catholic faith. In addition to her husband, Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, Hilario and Teresa (Barajas) Carrillo; grandson, Julian Alvarez Jr.; great granddaughter, Nicollette Joaquin (Mi Muchachita); two brothers, Manuel Carrillo and Wenslo Carrillo and daughters-in-law, Lydia Alvarez and Frances Alvarez, and a son-in-law, Joe Guerrero. She is survived by her sons, Julian Alvarez, Santiago Alvarez Jr. and wife Martha, Wenslo Alvarez and wife Edna, David Alvarez and wife Maria; two daughters, Dolores Garcia and husband Jessie and Juanita Joaquin and husband Danny; 23 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Salvador Carrillo of Gene Autry, Oklahoma and Emilio Carrillo of Antioch, California and sister, Dolores Acevedo of Fresno, California. Jennie was also loved by many sisters-in-law including Helen Alvarez who was like her own sister, brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Emmanuel Fabella and Dr. Inez Fabella and the nurses at Tulare Regional Medical Center, for the wonderful care and compassion they gave to Jennie. Visitation will be 1-8 pm, with recitation of the Rosary beginning at 6 pm on Monday, January 21, 2013 at Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 1 pm, Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 954 S. O St. with burial at Tulare District Cemetery.
