Jerry Wayne Clark A graveside Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, August 22 at 10:00 A.M. at Lindsay Strathmore Public Cemetery for Jerry Wayne Clark, 80, of Ivanhoe who passed away August 15. Jerry's grandson, Pastor Bradley Twitty will officiate and interment will follow. Jerry was born June 9, 1933 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Ted and Jewel Clark. After coming to California with his family in 1946 and settling in Exeter, Jerry attended local schools and graduated from Exeter High School with the Class of 1952. He was a Korean War
veteran who served his country in the United States Army
. For over 33 years, Jerry worked as a fire fighter
for the California Department of Forestry/County Fire. Jerry served his served career within Tulare County. He was proud to be a fire fighter. He enjoyed cheating at golf, watching sports, eating out, fireman musters and being with his kids and grandkids. He will be remembered as a wonderful and devoted father whose whole life focused on raising four children, as a single parent, and helping them become the best they could. Jerry had a sense of humor and loved to joke and tease. He will always be referred to as quite "the character" to his friends and family. Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children Lelia Imogene Young-Clark; by his brother Larry Clark and his sister Lynn Hutsell; by a granddaughter Shannon Clark and a stepson Russell Swanson. He is survived by his wife Shirley Clark of Ivanhoe; his daughters Sharon Twitty of Chowchilla and Melinda Canning of Exeter; by his sons Gary Clark of Idaho and Kenneth Clark of Maryland and by a stepson Scott Swanson of Tulare; thirteen grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
