Mae Ellen (Dawkins) Wade

Mae Ellen (Dawkins) Wade Mae Ellen (Dawkins) Wade passed away on November 17, 2012. She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, John W. Wade, daughter Sheila (and Ron) Bohard and two grandsons, Zachary and Nathan Bohard. Mae was born on June 2, 1925, in Spur, Texas and was raised primarily in and around Arizona. She has lived in Visalia since 1951. As a teenager she and her brother performed with USO shows on roller skates. Mae was a collector of dolls and antiques and took pride in doing detailed restorations. She was active for many years in the Visalia Mustang Car Club. Mae was known for her beautiful handwork: exquisite needlepoint, intricate crochet and knitting, artistic embroidery and sewing. She loved flowers, spent many hours in her garden and was particularly fond of her many camellias, gardenias, roses and dogwood trees. A celebration of life reception will be held from noon to 3pm on Sunday, November 25, in the Oak Club Room at Quail Park Assisted Living, 4520 West Cypress, Visalia, California. Donations to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research ( will be greatly appreciated by the family.
