Maude Elmira Pliksis

Maude Elmira Pliksis Maude Elmira Pliksis passed away August 10, 2013 at the age of 90. Maude was born December 22, 1922 in Cassville, MO to Milo and Thelma Burnett. In the 1930's the family moved to Lindsay, CA where she attended school and graduated from Lindsay High School in 1941. On Sept. 25, 1943, Maude married Fred Fleischmann, an Army Air Force bombardier from Milwaukee. He was killed in a crash landing on the runway at the Air Base at Dalhart, TX on Jan. 16, 1944. They had a daughter, Janice. In 1952 Maude married Egons Pliksis and they had two children, Julia and Leon. The family relocated in Tulare where Egons worked for the telephone company and Maude was a homemaker. Egons passed away November 19, 2000. She enjoyed baking, canning, knitting, crocheting, gardening, camping and most of all her family and friends. Maude truly enjoyed visiting with everyone and always had a big smile on her face. Maude is survived by daughters: Janice Dias and Julia Pliksis and son Leon Pliksis and his wife Margo. Grandchildren: Bernadette, Mary Ann, John, Michael and Carrie and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by father (Milo), mother (Thelma), brothers: James Burnett and Johnny Simanis. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. John Booker and the staff at Linwood Meadows, where Maude had resided since 2005. Viewing will be held from 12-8 p.m., Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel, Tulare. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2013 at Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery, 639 So. Foothill, Lindsay. Donations may be made to the Tulare .
